I don’t know about you ,but I am drinking so much water with the rising summer temperature, I am spending a lot of the day in and out of the loo!
Containing zero calories and essential for our survival, it can sometimes be tricky to drink the recommended 2 litres a day  – more if you exercise or sweating. Roughly 70% of the body is made up of water. Losing just 2% of body weight in fluid can reduce our physical and mental performance by 25%.

Benefits of drinking water:

It is a natural appetite suppressant.  It helps expand the fiber you eat to make you feel full and revs up your metabolism.

Your cells need water to do their job

It’s the best anti ageing treatment. Clearer & plumper skin

Better bowel movement. It flushes out toxins through urine and sweat

Increased energy as it relieves fatigue.

Improved concentration. Helps you think and focus better.

Prevents cramps and strains by keeping joints lubricated and muscles more elastic. Essential for any gym bunnies and jocks!

Lowers stress.  85% of your brain tissue is water. If you are dehydrated, both your body and mind will be stressed.

Fewer headaches, which are often caused by dehydration

Supports your immune system.

Often we don’t drink enough water because we simply forget. I like to make up a 2 litre jug of water in the morning flavoured with orange, lemon and lime, or cucumber and mint. Even apple depending on what is staring at me from the fruit bowl.

Keep it close to you where you can see it often, on your desk for example, and keep topping up your glass throughout the day.

Have 2 glasses of water as soon as you wake up.

Drink a large glass half an hour before a meal.

If necessary, set an alarm every few hours to remind you to drink up.

There are also some great apps available to download.
I like My Water Balance – Intake Drink as it sends you motivation alerts and for fun, Plant Nanny.  This cute app makes drinking water into a game.  As you drink water you are playing a game of watering your plant too, so you grown and thrive together.   Seeing the plants grow helps boost your spirits and keeps you drinking so it doesn’t die!
